Mr David Porter

I have worked as a Consultant Neurosurgeon for more than 25-years and have established clinical expertise in all types of adult brain aneurysms, arterio- vascular malformations (AVM) and cavernomas, both management and surgery. I have long undertaken management of brain tumours with a particular interest in meningioma surgery. I trained in Neurosurgery in London, Leeds and Pheonix Arizona with the world-renowned Neurosurgeons Dr Robert Spetzler and Dr V Sontag. I have been previous Trust Head of Department for Neurosurgery in Bristol, an ex-Lead of Training and have featured in both local and national radio and television. My private practice is now entirely devoted to brain conditions (AVM, aneurysm, cavernoma, tumour, Chiari malformations etc), where I have received both National and International referrals, I have undertaken hundreds of operations for complex vascular conditions of the brain including brain aneurysms and AVM's, operated on more than 750 meningiomas and other brain lesions. Previously I have undertaken more than 1000 spinal procedures on all areas of the spine (lumbar, cervical and thoracic) and would still offer surgery for spinal meningiomas and fistulas but have recently rationalized my practice to stop private spinal practice (June 2025) because of my significant commitment to intracranial practice.
