GMC reg: 6070929Mr Machin has been a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2014 and has been in private practice since 2015. His area of subspecialist expertise is in Foot & Ankle Surgery. Mr Machin has been heavily involved in the training of junior surgeons and in management and safety within the NHS. He was the Associate Medical Director for Surgery and Cancer at Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for more than 3 years. Prior to this he was the Clinical Director of Trauma and Orthopaedics. He set up and ran a senior Foot & Ankle Fellowship programme taking trained surgeons and giving them the skills necessary to become Foot & Ankle Consultants. His 4 previous Fellows are now all consultants in the NHS. He has was the Associate Foundation Programme Director in charge of the training of Foundation level doctors for 5 years. Mr Machin concluded his orthopaedic training in an internationally recognised higher surgical training fellowship at Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, during this fellowship he received advanced training in the management of complex elective, revision and trauma foot and ankle conditions.Prior to this he completed six years of specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery, rotating through many of the local hospitals, including the regional trauma centres. This followed on from his core surgical training after qualifying with Honours from The University of Liverpool School of Medicine in 2003.
