This information is provided by Mr David Iles.
David Iles is a Consultant Urogynaecologist specialising in the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, bladder symptoms and complications following previous pelvic floor surgery. He is Clinical Lead for Urogynaecology at the Warrell Unit, St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s specialist tertiary urogynaecology centres. His NHS practice includes the management of complex pelvic floor disorders and mesh-related complications, alongside a broad range of reconstructive pelvic floor surgery. David completed subspecialty training in urogynaecology and has a particular interest in surgical treatment of prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. His practice includes vaginal, laparoscopic and robotic approaches, allowing treatment to be tailored to the individual patient, their symptoms, priorities and previous surgery. He also has specialist expertise in problems following childbirth, including obstetric perineal trauma, and undertook postgraduate research into the effects of severe perineal injury. Alongside his clinical practice, David is actively involved in the training of future specialists in urogynaecology. He is Training Chair for the British Society of Urogynaecology and contributes to national subspecialty training and education through the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He places particular emphasis on careful assessment, explaining the available treatment options clearly, and shared decision-making so that patients can choose the approach most appropriate for them.
