Mr Darryl Coombes

Darryl Coombes qualified in both dentistry and medicine at King’s College, University of London in 1993 and 2000 respectively. He obtained his specialist training in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery at major UK NHS centres throughout England, including the world famous Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. In 1996 Darryl achieved the highest mark and won the gold medal in the FDS examination at The Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2008 Darryl was appointed as a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at The Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. Darryl has a broad experience in major reconstructive facial surgery for trauma and cancer. In 2018 after 10 years as a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Darryl decided to dedicate his time to Private Practice, with his interest in aesthetic facial surgery. Darryl has developed an international reputation in the field of facial, head and neck plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery worldwide. He performs and trains other surgeons on a wide range of specialties including rhinoplasty and head and neck skin cancer. From 2011 to 2014 Darryl was Section Editor for the facial aesthetics section of The British Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is currently a Board Member reviewer for this Journal. He has over 20 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals and has written 2 textbook chapters. In 2011, Darryl received a prestigious Knighthood of the Order of St John in Malta – which affords him the title Chevalier for the groundbreaking operations he performed on the Mediterranean island, surgeries from which many other European doctors had shied away. Along with his international influence, Darryl continues to lecture and train next generation surgeons. Darryl also acts as an expert witness and is fascinated with the Legal aspects of medical practice and is currently studying a Masters in Law degree (LLM) at Cardiff University.
