I qualified at The London Hospital Medical School in 1996 with a distinction in medicine and a first class honours degree in pharmacology. I subsequently worked in several world leading hospitals including St Mark’s and Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals. I undertook a Masters in Medical Science at the Hammersmith hospital in 2001 and completed a PhD at King’s College, London in the genetics of inflammatory bowel disease where I was awarded a Digestive Diseases Foundation Research Fellowship. I was appointed Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust in 1997, as well as Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University College London Medical School.
