I qualified from the University of Sheffield medical school at the turn of the millennium. I trained in general surgery in the South Yorkshire region and spent two years in Leicester studying for a research MD into the invasive properties of colorectal cancer cells which have implanted in the liver. I then sub-specialised in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery, working on the Sheffield liver and pancreatic unit for two and a half years and subsequently spent a year at the Leeds liver transplantation centre. I completed my training here in Plymouth as a Senior Fellow. I am the lead Consultant for HPB surgery and manage a team of 6 surgeons at Derriford hospital. My main areas of interest are gallstones and hernia surgery. General areas of expertise: General abdominal surgery; Hernia surgery; Minimally invasive surgery, gallstones Particular areas of specialist expertise: Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery including gallstones, liver, biliary and pancreatic cancer; Severe necrotising pancreatitis.
