Ms Cecilia Bottomley

Cecilia Bottomley is a very well established consultant gynaecologist in London with specialist expertise in ultrasound diagnosis and management of general gynaecological conditions, especially pain, bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis and early pregnancy complications. She sees patients through the different phases of their reproductive lives from late teenagers to the menopause and beyond. Cecilia consults with women aged 18 and over. She has fine technical skill with ultrasound and surgery and is respected by patients and colleagues for her dedicated patient care and clinical judgement. She works privately at The Portland Hospital and has a committed NHS practice also, at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) where she maintains a strong academic profile too, appointed as Associate Professor in 2020. Cecilia Bottomley's postgraduate MD research and thesis was on ultrasound predictors of miscarriage. She ran the Early Pregnancy Unit at Chelsea and Westminster for 9 years before moving in 2018 to University College London Hospitals, a tertiary referral unit for diagnosis and management of complex early pregnancy cases, where she is now clinical lead. She has published widely on emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy and supervises MD and PhD students. She has published two books, written multiple chapters and lectures nationally and internationally.
