Honorary Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London  Previously President of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland (1996) Previously President of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (1998). Awards include an Honorary Doctorate of Science (Med) from University College, London, Honorary Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Honorary Fellowship of the Sri Lankan College of Surgeons, Honorary Fellowship of The Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, Honorary Membership of The British Orthodontic Society and a Hunterian Professorship of The Royal College of Surgeons of England. Previously member of the Clinical Standards Advisory Board (CSAG) on Cleft Lip and Palate and the CSAG Implementation Group. Co-founder of and Chairman of the charity “CLEFT” – www.cleft.org.uk Regularly works with surgeons in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Iran, Egypt and the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq. Has published extensively, particularly on palate surgery and function.
