Dr Björn Thomas is a Consultant Dermatologist with subspecialty training in skin cancer, cutaneous lymphoma, and inflammatory skin disease. He trained across some of London's leading teaching hospitals, including Barts Health NHS Trust and the Royal Free Hospital, before completing a Dermato-Oncology Fellowship at the St John's Institute of Dermatology, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, one of the world's foremost dermatology centres. There he served as Clinical Lead of the Melanoma Service, with oversight of a high-volume service, and worked within the Skin Lymphoma clinic. He graduated from St George's Hospital Medical School with distinction in pre-clinical and clinical skills, receiving the Brackenbury Prize for Medicine and Surgery. His academic work focused on atopic eczema, investigating the genetic architecture of the condition and the role of environmental stress and pollution in disease severity. This research earned him the Royal Society of Medicine Trainee Research Prize and has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including the British Journal of Dermatology. Dr Thomas is a Trustee and South London Representative of the British Association of Dermatologists and a former NIHR Clinical Research Fellow. He sits on the GMC specialist register in dermatology. In clinical practice, he sees the full breadth of dermatological conditions, with particular interest in pigmented lesion assessment, skin cancer, inflammatory conditions including eczema and psoriasis, and hair and scalp disorders. He performs skin surgery for both benign and cancerous lesions and administers steroid injections for conditions including keloid scars, acne, and hidradenitis suppurativa. He consults at HCA Healthcare at The Shard and London Bridge Hospital, OneWelbeck, and his own practice, the Thomas Clinic at 55 Harley Street.
