Dr Ben Corden is a Consultant Cardiologist at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Bristol Heart Institute. He sees private patients at Nuffield Hospital and Cobalt Health in Cheltenham, where he provides expert, personalised care across general cardiology, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, inherited heart conditions and cardiac MRI. Dr Corden looks after patients with a wide range of symptoms and diagnoses, including breathlessness, chest pain, palpitations, faints or blackouts, high blood pressure, heart failure, cardiomyopathy and suspected inherited or genetic heart disease. He takes a calm, patient-centred approach, with a focus on clear explanations and shared decision-making, so that patients understand their diagnosis, investigation results and treatment options. He is the Clinical Lead for Heart Failure in Gloucestershire and a key member of the regional Inherited Cardiac Conditions and Cardiomyopathy Service at the Bristol Heart Institute. He also reports specialist cardiac MRI scans, which are used to assess many forms of heart muscle disease, inflammation, scarring and cardiac function. Dr Corden studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and completed a PhD at University College London. His cardiology training took place at leading London hospitals including Hammersmith, Royal Brompton and St Bartholomew’s, where he completed advanced fellowship training in inherited cardiac conditions and cardiomyopathy. He has also undertaken cardiovascular research at the Royal Brompton Hospital and the National Heart Centre Singapore, focusing on heart muscle disease, scarring and advanced imaging. Alongside his clinical work, Dr Corden remains active in research, service development and quality improvement within the NHS, particularly in heart failure, cardiomyopathy and cardiac imaging. He is a member of the British Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions Society and the British Society for Heart Failure.
