Following excellent A level results I spent a year teaching mathematics and science to high school students in Cape Town. Undergraduate medical training was completed at the University of Bristol Medical School, where I qualified with first class Honours degrees in both Medicine and Anatomical Sciences. I secured a Basic Surgical Training rotation in Oxford for 3 years; followed by a year as an orthopaedic registrar in New Zealand, before returning to join the orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training programme in Bristol. I completed the following sub-speciality fellowships: Synthes Trauma observership at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford; AO Trauma fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York; Allograft and arthroplasty fellowship at Sir Charles Gairdner and Hollywood Hospitals, Perth, Australia; Lower Limb Arthroplasty fellowship at Fremantle Hospital, Perth, Australia. I maintain a keen interest in medical education, gaining both a postgraduate Certificate of Medical Education and a Diploma of Medical Education from the University of Bristol. I am a mentor for hip surgeons through the British Hip Society. My research interests are centred around the outcome of hip replacement surgery. I am author of many peer reviewed journal articles and principal investigator on numerous national trials at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. I co-chair both the revision hip and the infection multi-disciplinary team meetings at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. Through the American Hip Society, I was selected as the sole British representative for the 5-week Rothman-Ranawat Traveling Fellowship to the USA and Canada in 2019, an honour bestowed to only one British surgeon every year. I sit on the British Hip Society national advisory panel on the setting up of Revision Hip Networks.
