Dr Bassam Alchi is a Consultant Nephrologist at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Wexham Park Hospital and Windsor Dialysis Unit since 2012. Dr Alchi obtained his medical degree from Mosul University, Iraq in 1991. He was working there as a lecturer in renal medicine before moving to Japan in 2002 to conduct clinical research. He was awarded a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education, which allowed him to complete a PhD on kidney transplant rejection in 2006. Dr Alchi moved to the UK in 2006. He undertook further specialist training in nephrology at Cambridge University Hospitals. He is a follow of the Royal College of physicians and of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the Renal Association UK and the European Society of Nephrology. Dr Alchi has a wealth of experience in all fields of nephrology. He is the lead for the glomerulonephritis and polycystic kidney disease services at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Dr Alchi has a very strong interest in clinical research. He is a principle investigator of several ongoing clinical trials. He has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has a chapter in the Oxford Textbook of Clinical Nephrology.
