Dr Bassam Alchi has been a Consultant Nephrologist at Royal Berkshire Hospital, Wexham Park Hospital, and Windsor Dialysis Unit since 2012. He graduated from Mosul University, Iraq, in 1991 and subsequently worked as a Lecturer in Renal Medicine. In 2002, he moved to Japan to pursue clinical research after being awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education. He completed a PhD in 2006, focusing on kidney transplant rejection and renal pathology. Dr Alchi relocated to the UK in 2006, where he undertook further specialist training in nephrology at Cambridge University Hospitals. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a member of the European Society of Nephrology and the European Vasculitis Society. With extensive expertise across the full spectrum of kidney diseases, Dr Alchi leads the Glomerulonephritis and Polycystic Kidney Disease services at Royal Berkshire Hospital. Dr Alchi has a strong commitment to clinical research and serves as Principal Investigator for several international clinical trials. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and contributed a chapter to the Oxford Textbook of Clinical Nephrology.
