Mr Azhar Shaida

I went to school in Newham and then City of London School. I was awarded a scholarship to Cambridge to study Medicine. After completing three years pre-clinical at Pembroke College Cambridge I transferred to New College Oxford to complete my clinical medical training. I then did house jobs in Oxford and London, and senior house officer jobs in London and Cambridge before joining the East of England Registrar Training program, working in Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich. I spent a year doing research which led to a MD from the University of London, and visited centres of excellence around Europe to broaden my expertise and experience other healthcare systems. In 2002 I was appointed as Consultant ENT Surgeon with a special interest in Otology and Cochlear Implants at the Royal National ENT Hospital, the pre-eminent postgraduate ENT teaching hospital and the largest ENT hospital in the UK. I have special intrests in Otology, Paediatric ENT and Auditory Implants, and I am the Clinical Lead for Otology and Auditory Implants and the head of the Auditory Implant Program. I am also the Clinical Governance Lead for the RNENTEDH, and honorary senior clinical lecturer at the UCL Ear Institute. My inetrests outside work include spending time with family, literature and football.
