I have been a Consultant Upper GI surgeon for a decade and offer a range of surgical treatments for acid reflux, gallstones and hernias both in the NHS and private sector. I studied medicine at Cambridge University before training in Upper GI, Bariatric, and General Surgery in Leeds, London, Liverpool and Manchester. I worked for 2 years as a Consultant Surgeon at Arrowe Park Hospital, where I worked to help improve the provision of care for acute biliary emergencies as well as setting up a Laparoscopic Transgastric ERCP service to treat common bile duct stones post Bariatric Surgery. This remains one of the few such services in the North West. For the past 7 years, I have been part of a great team of Upper GI Surgeons in Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport. We have continued to grow our service and are now the main provider of complex benign upper GI surgery to the South East Sector of Greater Manchester and beyond. We are also proud to be part of a wider team of General surgeons who consistently have some of the best outcomes for Emergency Abdominal Surgery in the UK. I am the Upper GI cancer lead at Stockport, and have been centrally involved in the expansion of the Upper GI CNS, ACP and Cancer Navigator team. I was extremely proud to have been nominated for an ’Inspirational Leader’ award by my team in recognition of my work as lead clinician in 2022. I have also introduced innovative techniques such as intraoperative ICG and transnasal OGD to the trust, as well as restarting the Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration service after a decade hiatus. I am honoured to have been recently elected as Secretary of the British Benign Upper GI Surgical Society and am looking forward to running events and courses for them across the NW in the coming years. My private practice is at both the Spire Regency and Circle Alexandra Hospitals, where I aim to offer high quality care for patients with upper GI and General Surgical problems, and in particular to deliver patient centred treatment for acid reflux.
