Consultant Gastroenterologist and Advanced Endoscopy Specialist Expert Gastrointestinal Care Dr Ash Bassi is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with over two decades of consultant experience in the management of digestive and liver disorders. He provides expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including acid reflux, abdominal pain, indigestion, bowel symptoms, anaemia, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal bleeding and liver disorders. Known for his thorough and patient-focused approach, Dr Bassi works closely with patients to establish an accurate diagnosis and develop tailored treatment plans designed to achieve the best possible outcomes. Advanced Endoscopic Practice Dr Bassi is an experienced endoscopists in the region, performing approximately 750 endoscopic procedures annually. He is an accredited colonoscopist within the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, a distinction reflecting consistently high standards in both quality and patient safety. His advanced endoscopic practice includes: Colonoscopy and gastroscopy Complex polyp detection and removal Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) of large precancerous lesions Dilatation of oesophageal and bowel strictures PEG feeding tube insertion Gastrointestinal stent placement for obstructing cancers These minimally invasive procedures can often prevent the need for more extensive surgical intervention while providing excellent clinical outcomes. Qualifications and Professional Credentials Dr Bassi graduated in Medicine from Calcutta University before completing specialist medical training in the United Kingdom. He holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), an MPhil in Medical Law and Ethics from the University of Glasgow, and an MD from the University of Liverpool. He was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in recognition of his contribution to medicine.
