Mr Arj Imbuldeniya

Arj Imbuldeniya is a fully qualified Consultant Knee and Hip surgeon who successfully treats 80% of his patients without surgery. Mr Imbuldeniya was apponited as a specialist knee, hip and trauma surgeon by The Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust in 2015. His main private clinic is at Lanserhof at the Mayfair Arts Club, and also The Cromwell Hospital, HCA Chiswick Diagnostic Centre and Circle Syon Clinic in Brentford. Dr Imbuldeniya graduated as a medical doctor in 2001 from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals Medical School, University of London. He spent a number of years training as a junior doctor at The Royal London Hospital. His senior surgical training was based in North West London including appointments at Charing Cross Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital Paddington and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.  Specialist fellowship experience   Prior to taking up his consultant post, Mr Imbuldeniya undertook international specialist fellowship training at the renowned Mater Hospital in Sydney, Australia where he lived for 1 year learning from the countries best hip and knee replacement surgeons. This year he was awarded the European Sports Knee Surgery (ESSKA) Travelling Fellowship to learn and operate with Barcelona’s top knee preservation surgeons in their knee unit. His specialist interest is biologcal therapies such as platelet rich plasma, cartilage regeneration and knee preservation surgery. He has expertise in keyhole surgery of the knee including ACL reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair, robotic assisted knee resurfacing, minimally invasive hip replacement particularly in the younger adult. Professional memberships and affiliations  Mr Imbuldeniya is a member of The British Hip Society,the British Association of Knee Surgery., The European Sports Traumatilogy and Knee Arthroscopy Society. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a qualified Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor for doctors.  Interests outside of work   Outside of work, he is a keen runner, and footballer and has spent time as a team doctor in the Australian National Rugby League and helping at Brentford FC. He has helped in projects to deliver high quality orthopaedic care in the developing world, and disseminate frugal innovation in Iraq, Uganda and Kenya recently.  Any free time he has is devoted to his wife, 4 young children, 2 cats and 1 dog. He somehow crossed the finish line in the 2024 London Marathon so he understands what it means to be active, to train and to carry injuries and have pain. His goal is to use non surgical measures to get you pain free and active again.
