Mr Arifullah Khan

I am Consultant General, Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgeon. Having completed my higher surgical training at University College Hospital (UCL) as part of London Deanery. I was awarded CCST by the Royal College of Surgeon Intercollegiate Board. I served as the Colorectal Lead, Chairperson for the Colorectal MDT and Head of Enhance Recovery Programme in Surgery (ERAS) at my Trust. I am a JAG approved endoscopist and preform screening, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies. In general surgery, I specialize in sports hernia surgery, laparoscopic repair of inguinal hernia, femoral, incisional and umbilical hernia repair as well as management of gallbladder disease and perform laparoscopic cholecystectomies for gallstones. My expertise extends to both benign and malignant colorectal conditions. I am a National Trainer for minimally invasive haemorrhoid surgery (THD) procedure and laparoscopic colorectal surgery. My clinical interest includes fissure, fistula, anal warts, diverticular disease, Ileostomy closure, reversal of Hartmann's, pilonidal sinus treatment, management of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and IBS. I also run Joint IBD clinics with gastroenterologist. As a faculty member of FRCS Intercollegiate Examination course and MRCS courses, I am passionate about research, teaching and training. I also serve as an Educational and Clinical Supervisor and also hold the position of Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University. I have authored several clinical and scientific and medical publications, which are available ResearchGate. I am a member of the Clinical Excellence Award CEA) committee and act an Appraiser for medical and surgical consultants. I have been honoured in the past to receive the Innovation Award for my work in ERAS and laparoscopic surgery, I was awarded with the Compassionate Culture Award in 2024. I aim to continue my contributions as a National Trainer in Colorectal Surgery to develop newer skills in surgeons of tomorrow.
