Mr Anwar Zaman

Mr Anwar Zaman studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford Universities and after two years of general medicine at Nottingham, trained in general ophthalmology in London, Southampton, and Nottingham.    His research Fellowship was in immunology and uveitis at St Thomas.   He undertook two years of Advanced  Fellowship training in retinal surgery at Manchester and Moorfields Eye Hospital.   He was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist to NUH in 1999 with special interest in medical and surgical retina, for which he runs a local and tertiary referral service and comprehensive training programme. He has over 30 years experience in ophthalmology having specialist interests in complex cataract surgery. medical retinal conditions and vitreoretinal surgery, with outstanding results on audits of both cataract and retinal surgery.  He was Head of the Ophthalmology Department in 2004-2007 and was appointed Clinical Director of the Head and Neck Directorate from 2007- 2013. Currently Mr Zaman is clinical governance lead for Ophthalmology and the ophthalmology lead of the Nottingham Diabetic retinopathy service. He is also a national peer reviewer and advisor to the National Diabetic Retinopathy Programme.     He was the programme executive for the award winning Patient Level Information and Costings board at NUH, having been appointed to this role in 2008, and led the multidisciplinary team which implemented the programme at NUH and was an advisor to the the national PLICS proramme.     Mr Zaman practices at the Queens Medical Centre, NUH and the Nottingham Spire Hospital.
