Dr Anthony Shonde

Dr Shonde qualified from the Royal Free Hospital in London in 1995. He underwent SpR training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in London at the Hammersmith, Chelsea & Westminster and Charing Cross Hospitals. He was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at Sherwood Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in February 2009.Dr Shonde has more recently undertaken increased work at the Ramsay Woodthorpe Hospital in Nottingham where he holds regular clinics and endoscopy sessions. He is the chair of the Endoscopy User Group at the site, a group which meets regularly to ensure the unit continues to comply with British Society of Gastroenterology quality and safety standards as well as other statutory, regulatory and hospital group policy requirements.As well as gastrointestinal conditions and liver disease, he has areas of specialist interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, with interest in the small bowel, taking an active interest in capsule endoscopy including upper GI capsule, small bowel capsule and lower GI capsule.Dr Shonde takes an active role in IBD and the Endoscopy Department at Sherwood Forest Hospitals and is Principal Investigator for Clinical Research trials at the site.He continues to represent the Midlands and East as Regional Quality Assurance Lead for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for a third year.
