Dr Anthony Lerman

Dr Anthony Lerman is a Consultant Gastroenterologist. He qualified from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School and the University of Cambridge in 1998 and completed his training in London. He is on the GMC Specialist Register, accredited in both Gastroenterology and General Medicine. Dr Lerman enjoys diagnostic challenge and works closely with allied health professionals, other doctors and dieticians to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. Dr Lerman is very approachable and is an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians’ postgraduate medical examinations as well as for UCL Medical School’s final examinations. Areas of interest: Upper GI symptoms: swallowing problems; heartburn; reflux; indigestion; Lower GI symptoms: diarrhoea; constipation; rectal bleeding; General GI symptoms: pain; bloating; unintentional weight loss, anaemia including iron deficiency anaemia; Specific diseases: irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); alcohol-related diseases; multi-system disorders which involve the gut; Endoscopy: oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (also known as gastroscopy or OGD); colonoscopy; flexible sigmoidoscopy; small bowel video capsule endoscopy.
