Professor Anoop Chauhan

I am a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and Chief Research Officer at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. I am also the Clinical Director of the Portsmouth Technology Trials Unit, which enables research into technologies to diagnose and treat patients with respiratory conditions. I am also an Honorary Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Portsmouth. I was awarded an MBE in our late Queen’s Birthday Honours 2021 for services to Respiratory Medicine.  I am a co-founder of Respiaction – a social enterprise to improve the health of respiratory patients through research and education.

I look after patients with severe asthma and related breathing disorders. Many of these conditions cause significant breathlessness and coughing that require thorough investigation. I work in the Portsmouth Severe Asthma Service, which provides access to specialist care in severe asthma, including new biologic therapies.
