Mr Andy Langdown

Andy Langdown is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the surgical treatment of hip & knee conditions, in particular the young adult hip. His undergraduate medical degree was obtained from The University of Birmingham and he subsequently trained in Bristol, Oxford and Sydney, Australia. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and is fully accredited on the UK Specialist Register for Trauma and Orthopaedics and the General Medical Council of England. Andy has been a UK consultant working in hospitals on the south coast of England for 20 years. He is committed to a patient-centred approach whereby patients are fully involved in the decision-making process, and is focussed on tailoring treatment to the needs of the patient using minimally invasive techniques, joint preservation surgery and the most clinically proven implants to aid rapid post-operative rehabilitation. He is one of the founding members of the Portsmouth Arthroplasty Group and has developed protocols for the management of infected joint replacements. Andy is recognised as one of the UK’s leading Hip Arthroscopy surgeons having performed over 2,500 hip arthroscopy operations. He developed services for Young Adult Hip Surgery in Portsmouth and Chichester. A keen amateur sportsman, who has won medals nationally and internationally in cycling, Andy is also well aware of the particular surgical and rehabilitation needs of sportsmen and sportswomen following injury.
