Dr Andrew Thornley

I trained in the North East of England following graduation from Newcastle Medical school in 2000. I started work as an NHS Consultant Cardiologist in 2012 and have been working in Middlesbrough since then. I have extensive experience in General Cardiology, Cardiac Devices and Cardiac Electrophysiology. I am able to undertake a wide range of cardiac procedures including Electrophysiology studies for arrhythmias and palpitations. I undertake ablations for Atrial Fibrillation, Atrial Flutter, SVT, Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome and Ventricular Tachycardia. I am an experienced cardiac device implanter and implant pacemakers, Implantable defibrillators (ICDs) and leadless pacemakers (the Medtronic Micra pacemaker) I believe that working with patients to come to the right management plan is critical to good cardiac care. I also believe that seeing a Cardiologist with the right sub specialty skills to manage your heart rhythm problem is critical to getting the best outcomes.
