Mr Anantha Madhavan

Mr Anantha Madhavan is a Consultant Laparoscopic/Robotic Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon based in Guildford. His NHS practice is based at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and his private practice is based at Circle Health Mount Alvernia and Guildford Nuffield Hospital. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract, including the management of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, gallstones, oesophageal and gastric cancer. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of abdominal wall hernias, hiatal hernias and diaphragmatic hernias. He has experience in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy with accreditation from JAG. He has a special interest in the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of Barretts oesophagus.

•Oesophageal and gastric Cancer - Gastro-oesophageal Reflux o Anti-reflux surgery – laparoscopic fundoplication o Investigation, diagnosis and treatment. • Abdominal wall hernia repair o Laparoscopic/open repair of inguinal, femoral, umbilical, incisional and other abdominal wall hernias • Gallbladder removal (Laparoscopic cholecystectomy) o Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and on table cholangiography o Laparoscopic bile duct exploration. • Removal of skin and subcutaneous lesions • Dyspepsia (indigestion) - investigation, diagnosis and treatment. • Hiatal/Diaphragmatic hernia repair o Laparoscopic - primary/recurrent/complex hiatal hernia repair • Upper gastro-intestinal endoscopy o Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) o Therapeutic endoscopy – dilatation, stent placement, Naso-Jejunal (NJ) tube placement o Diagnostic endoscopy. • Achalasia o Endoscopic (balloon dilatation) o Laparoscopic Heller-Dor-Cardiomyotomy. • Laparoscopic small bowel resection and appendicectomy • Laparoscopic feeding jejunostomy • Endoscopic/Laparoscopic placement of gastrostomy feeding tubes.
