GMC reg: 4390154MY PROFILE After completing my Neurosurgical training in Neurosurgery in India & working as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at GB Pant Hospital affiliated to University of Delhi, India for 6 years, I moved to UK in 1995. I obtained my UK neurosurgical training at ‘United Leeds Teaching Hospitals’ in Leeds. After obtaining Fellowship of the RCS of England in 1997, Specialist Accreditation in 1999, Intercollegiate Fellowship in Surgical Neurology (FRCS SN) in April 2000 and ‘Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in May 2001’, I was appointed as a Substantive Consultant Neurosurgeon on the 16 August 2001 at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire in Coventry, UK (over 22 years of clinical experience) CLINICAL EXPERIENCE Every year, I consult approximately 1900 patients (new & FU) in the NHS and approximately 840 patients (new, FU, NHS & Private) in the Private Hospitals (majority spine). In the last 23 years , (conservative estimate), I have carried out approximately 4500 spinal operations (cervical & Lumbar) in NHS and Private Hospitals including very complex cervical spine procedures. ‘ BBC West Midland News’ telecast my first ‘Total cervical disc replacement’ surgery on the 12 June 2007. DEPARTMENTAL: As Clinical Lead, I led recruitment, Clinical Governance, Quality Improvement & Business planning. I developed Trust Guidelines for prevention of wrong level spine surgery, spine referrals & neurovascular. 2.REGIONAL: A) I am the Regional Specialty Professional Advisor in Neurosurgery for the West Midlands appointed by the RCS England. B) As Chairman Specialty Training Committee (STC) in Neurosurgery for West Midlands (2005-12) 3.NATIONAL: A) I was member of the SAC (Specialty Advisory Committee) in Neurosurgery . SAC monitors standards of ‘National Neurosurgery Selection’ & ‘Neurosurgery Exit Exam’, Work force planning and certification of Completion of Neurosurgical Training. 4.INTERNATIONAL: A) I was elected UK representative to the European Association of Neurological Societies (EANS) Training Committee (2012-16), TRAINING EXPERIENCE: 1.REGIONAL: As Chairman of STC, I developed a) Mandatory ‘Regional Study Day’ b) ‘Mock Exit examination in Neurosurgery’ . 2.NATIONAL: Conceptualised, developed & organised annual ' National ST3 Boot camps (Simulation courses) in Neurosurgery'. This high fidelity simulation course is part of ST3 trainee curriculum. 3, ?INTERNATIONAL: A). Organised International simulation courses for all level trainees (FY2-ST8). B) Taught on EANS courses . C). Taught on ACNS courses in Asia.
