Nominals: MBChB MRCS (England) MD FRCS (Plast) Background: Alexandra Murray is a fully accredited UK-trained consultant plastic surgeon. She has been on the specialist register for plastic surgery with the General Medical Council since 2015. Alexandra is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons with FRCS(Plast) and has also been awarded an MD for her research. She is a full member of and now part of council for the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) as well being a member of the BBA, EBA, ISBI and BMLA. Alexandra has been working as a doctor in the NHS for 25 years. Since 2015, Alexandra has been a substantive consultant for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, specialising in the care of adults and children affected by burn injuries, all types of scars (including the use of Lasers) and complex reconstruction – mainly for abdominal wall and perineal defects. Alexandra has been the clinical lead for the regional burns service throughout this post. Alexandra trained throughout the UK in several hospitals in Yorkshire and London. After finishing UK surgical training, Alexandra went on to work internationally, completing fellowships in Melbourne (2012-2013) in microsurgery and burns, and then in Perth (2013-2015) to work under the mentorship of Professor Fiona Wood for the Western Australian State Burns Service. Alexandra is a GMC-recognised trainer and is passionate about training the next generation of surgeons. She continues to contribute to research in her field and has been supporting burns research fellows working at Stoke Mandeville Hospital for a number of years, supervising a number of masters projects and trials. Alexandra is now co-director of Thames Valley Scar Clinic in Oxford, where she leads MDT care for private patients seeking treatment for all types of scars, and some skin problems relating to pigment, vascular and age-related change.
