I qualified from The University of Sheffield in 1992 and trained in Sheffield and Merseyside. I gained the Fellowship from both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and The Royal College of Surgeons of England. I won a travelling fellowship to the USA from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow where I gained further experience in knee surgery. I gained the Fellowship in Trauma in Orthopaedics in 2002 and took up my consultant post in Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2004. I have sat on the executive committee of The British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK ) for eight years as both member-at-large, treasurer and this year I had the honour of being elected as President of the Association which I took up that role in September 2024. In addition, I have been the President of The Grosvenor Club from 2008 until 2022 and Chair of Spire Liverpool MAC from 2017 until the present. I sit on the ODEP committee. I hold a Honorary Clinical Lecturers post at the University of Liverpool. I have a large number of peer reviewed publications and am asked to speak regularly at local, national and international meetings.
