Mr Shahzada Ahmed

Shahz Ahmed is a Consultant Rhinologist and Skull Base Surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire, and Birmingham Children’s Hospital, UK. He specializes in all aspects of Rhinology, including functional and cosmetic septorhinoplasty, endoscopic and trans-orbital approaches to the skull-base. As lead pituitary surgeon, he manages both adult and paediatric cases and supervises a clinical fellowship program. Mr. Ahmed has established specialized clinics in Chronic Facial Pain, Allergy, vasculitis, and Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia. He prioritizes evidence-based practice, having defended his PhD on Nasal Polyposis in 2013 and supervising numerous higher degrees. A prolific author and key opinion leader, he contributes to the medical literature and sits on consensus panels. Mr. Ahmed is dedicated to teaching, conducting cadaveric sinus surgery courses, and lecturing at national and international conferences. Additionally, he serves as a Trustee for Get Ahead Cancer Charity and holds leadership positions in various medical societies. Since October 2023, he has served as Medical Director for Tertiary Services at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.

All aspects of endoscopic sinus surgery including frontal sinus surgery and image guided revision surgery, balloon sinuplasty and endoscopic watery eye surgery (endonasal DCR).  Mr Ahmed also undertakes pituitary and minimal access skull base surgery through the nose as well as rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty for cosmesis and function.
