I am Mr Aditya Raja MBBS/BSc (Hons), AICSM, FRCS (Urol), a Consultant Urologist based in Harrogate, with an NHS practice at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. I have over 15 years of surgical experience and specialise in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of a wide range of urological conditions. As a private urologist in Harrogate, I treat conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder, prostate, and male reproductive system, offering care ranging from early diagnosis and medical management to advanced minimally invasive surgery. I am committed to patient-centred care and shared decision-making, ensuring patients are fully involved in planning their treatment and feel listened to, respected, and reassured. Training and Professional Background I trained at Imperial College School of Medicine, London, graduating in 2007 with a medical degree and an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences (Pharmacology and Toxicology). After early surgical training in Essex and the East Midlands, I undertook specialist urology training in the Yorkshire and Humber deanery, gaining experience in both routine and complex urological conditions, including urinary stone disease, prostate disorders, bladder cancer, and reconstructive procedures. In 2024, I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Urol). I was subsequently appointed Consultant Urologist at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, delivering both emergency and elective urology services, alongside private practice across Harrogate and the wider Yorkshire region. Patient-Centred Approach I understand that urological symptoms can be worrying. I take time to listen carefully, explain investigations and treatment options clearly, and work with patients to agree on the most appropriate care pathway. I believe strongly in shared decision-making so patients feel informed and confident at every stage of their care. Teaching and Training I am passionate about education and regularly teach on national and regional surgical training programmes, including the Royal College of Surgeons’ CCrISP course and the national Urology Bootcamp. I teach practical skills in endourology, supervise research projects, and mentor junior doctors. Leadership and Governance I hold leadership roles within Harrogate and District Foundation Trust, currently serving as Surgical Clinical Digital Lead, where I support the safe and effective use of digital systems to improve patient care and clinical workflows. I am also the Clinical Governance Lead for Urology, with responsibility for quality improvement, patient safety, audit, and service development within the department.
