Mr Aditya Raja

I am Mr Aditya Raja MBBS/BSc (Hons), AICSM, FRCS (Urol), a Consultant Urologist based in Harrogate, with an NHS practice at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. I have over 15 years of surgical experience and provide assessment and treatment for a broad range of urological conditions, with particular interests in urinary stone disease and benign prostate enlargement. I trained at Imperial College School of Medicine, graduating in 2007 with a medical degree and an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences (Pharmacology and Toxicology). I subsequently completed specialist urology training in Yorkshire and Humber, gaining experience across general urology, endourology, prostate disease, bladder and prostate cancer. I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology in 2024 before being appointed as a Consultant Urologist in Harrogate. My practice includes conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder, prostate and male reproductive system, with treatment ranging from investigation and medical management through to minimally invasive surgery. I place particular emphasis on clear communication and shared decision-making, ensuring patients understand their diagnosis, available options and the reasoning behind their treatment plan. Alongside clinical practice, I am actively involved in surgical education and regularly teach on regional and national training programmes, including the Royal College of Surgeons’ CCrISP course and Urology Bootcamp. I also supervise and mentor junior doctors and contribute to research and service development. Within Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, I serve as Surgical Clinical Digital Lead and Urology Clinical Governance Lead, with responsibilities spanning digital innovation, patient safety, quality improvement and the development of urology services.

My main clinical interests are urinary stone disease and benign prostate enlargement. I have particular expertise in the assessment, treatment and prevention of kidney and ureteric stones, including ureteroscopy, laser stone treatment and shockwave lithotripsy. I also have a strong interest in lower urinary tract symptoms and benign prostate enlargement, including medical management and minimally invasive surgical treatment such as UroLift and TURP. My wider practice includes haematuria, recurrent urinary tract infections, bladder symptoms, PSA assessment, scrotal conditions and general urology.
