I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist and I specialise in cataract surgery and cornea and ocular surface disease. I perform a high number of cataract surgeries every year, both routine and complex cases. I use standard monofocal, enhanced monofocal, toric, and multifocal lenses(EDoF and trifocal), guiding and supporting the patients with the necessary advice to identify the lens type that best meets their needs. I also perform piggyback lens implantation to correct the need for glasses after cataract surgery. As a cornea and ocular surface specialist, I can diagnose and treat conditions like dry eyes, keratoconus, corneal dystrophies (ex. Fuch’s dystrophy), corneal infections, pterygium and other ocular surface diseases. I perform full-thickness and lamellar corneal transplantation (DALK, DSAEK, DMEK), cross-linking, pterygium surgery, and other ocular surface procedures. To date, I have performed over 1,500 cataract surgeries and over 100 corneal grafts. I trained in Ophthalmology in the UK, in the North West Deanery, under the Specialist Training Programme UK, and I have more than 15 years of Ophthalmic experience. After training in general Ophthalmology, I further specialised in cornea and ocular surface disease. I completed a one year Trainee Selected Component and a 14 month fellowship in this subspecialty, at the Liverpool University Hospital. This was followed by a one year postgraduate course in cataract and refractive surgery. As a specialist in both cornea and cataract surgery, I can diagnose and treat/optimise the cornea and ocular surface diseases prior to cataract surgery, which is so important for achieving the best possible postoperative outcome.
