He is a leading authority on Mohs surgery with complex facial reconstruction. He is known for his work to improve surgical safety standards, and testing artificial intelligence. Dr Bray has been a Consultant Dermatologist since 2011. In 2015, he established the Mohs Micrographic Surgery service at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust, and continues to lead the expanding team, now comprising four consultant surgeons. Under his direction, the service has thrived as the regional centre for Mohs surgery, serving patients across Bristol, Somerset, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire. Dr Bray has also held key leadership roles, including Clinical Lead for Dermatology and Skin Cancer MDT Lead at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. Specialist Training and Qualifications Dr Bray undertook advanced training in dermatological surgery, including Mohs micrographic surgery and complex reconstruction, at the Welsh Institute of Dermatology, University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He completed four years of specialist training in Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery in Bristol and Bath before his appointment as a Consultant Dermatologist. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School and subsequently completed five years of training in general internal medicine, earning membership and later fellowship (FRCP) of the Royal College of Physicians. Academic and Educational Involvement Dr Bray is actively involved in medical education, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate doctors as well as professionals allied to medicine. He contributes to the academic field through regular publication in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for several scientific publications. His clinical and research interests include surgical safety and optimising patient outcomes. Professional Leadership and National Roles Dr Bray has served on the Executive Committee of the British Society for Dermatological Surgery (BSDS) since 2013, taking on multiple leadership roles. He was elected President of the BSDS for the 2025–2027 term and currently leads the national surgical guidelines development group and the UK Mohs surgery registry. Professional Registration Dr Bray is listed on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register (GMC: 6049496) as a Consultant Dermatologist, formally recognising his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions.
