Our joint programme with NHS Digital to improve how information about private healthcare is collected and used has been shortlisted for a national award with the HSJ Partnership Awards 2021.

Having initiated the ADAPt programme in 2018, we have been working with NHS Digital towards creating a single, national databases of all hospital activity in England. While this sounds like a fairly technical programme, it will have real and significant benefits for patients. The case of surgeon Ian Paterson highlighted significant safety loopholes which have previously been open to abuse. Although ADAPt on its own will not fix all of these issues, it will provide the foundations to support better monitoring of care to protect future patients.

It’s fantastic to receive the recognition from being shortlisted for this award, and we’re thankful to have the support of a broad range of influential stakeholders behind us, as our video to the awards panel below shows.

To read more about the programme, including our public consultation which ran throughout 2020, visit our home on the NHS Digital website.

We have been shortlisted alongside two other excellent programmes, both of which are using data to make a real difference to the outcomes and experience of patients – something that we believe should be welcomed and celebrated. We’d encourage you to check out the others shortlisted below:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust have been shortlisted for their work with Allocate Software – a partner well known to many of the hospitals we work with – for their innovative Covid-19 Sickness Absence Workforce System, which ensured that their services could continue to be appropriately staffed even during the height of the pandemic.
  • Insource and the Northern Care Alliance are the others to be shortlisted for their work standardising the RTT patient pathway across the Northern Care Alliance.

The awards will take place on 29th June, and – restrictions permitting – the team behind ADAPt at NHS Digital and PHIN will be at the ceremony to learn our fate!
