John Calvey has been a Consultant Surgeon since 2003. He studied medicine in the UK and trained in General and Vascular Surgery across a number of cities including some in North America. Originally operating in a very broad surgical practice John specialized into vascular and endovascular surgery but still retains an interest in General Surgery. He believes what patients most value in their surgeon is someone to make the right decisions with them, as well as possessing a skilled pair of hands. These qualities come with time and experience which John has worked hard to perfect. He likes to put patients at their ease in clinic whilst retaining a professional manner. Making the correct diagnosis and offering treatment options with clear advice and explanations. John’s surgical practice encompasses all aspects of vascular surgery including the most comprehensive range of treatments for varicose veins allowing him to offer the right option for your particular venous problem. John also performs and has championed the use of local anaesthetic for hernia repair surgery. This may not be suitable for every patient but whenever possible it is his preference to reduce risk and improve results through best practice. In his spare time John enjoys walking in the Lake District, playing guitar and spending time with his family.
