Professor Duncan Summerton

Professor Summerton graduated from Leicester Medical School in 1987 and undertook his general surgical and urological training in Plymouth, Southampton and Portsmouth. He obtained Reconstructive Fellowships in the USA and at the Institute of Urology in London, with a further Fellowship in advanced andrological surgery, including prosthetics and female to male gender realignment also at the Institute of Urology.Appointed as a Consultant in 2001 in Portsmouth, he moved to Leicester in 2005 on leaving the Royal Navy after 19 years of service. He rums the East Midlands Penile cancer Supra-network (6.5 million population) and Chaired the European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines Panel in Urological Trauma until 2015 . He Examines at the Medical School and is an assessor of examiners for the FRCS(Urol) exit exam Prof Summerton was elected as Vice President of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) in 2016 and seven as President from 2018-2020. Following this , he was elected President of the FSSA (The Federation of Surgical Specialty Associations) in 2020 and currently leads the 10 GMC-recognised surgical specialties 

Prof Summerton is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Leicester General Hospital and was made an Honorary Professor Senior  at the University of Leicester in 2020. He sees patients with all manner of urological problems including andrology, the treatment of urethral stricture disease, Peyronies, testicular pain, erectile dysfunction, prostate and bladder problems - both benign and cancer, urodynamics, vasectomy and vasectomy reversal.
