Professor David M Lloyd

Professor David M Lloyd qualified in London and trained in Leicester. He became a research fellow at the University of Chicago and gained an MD/PhD thesis in transplantation immunology. He was appointed as Oberarzt (Consultant) in Liver Transplantation at the University of Hamburg before being appointed in Leicester in 1994. He specialises in liver surgery and developed a microwave machine to treat cancer tumours in the liver. This machine is now being used all around the world. His main interest now is laparoscopic surgery and has been a pioneer in this field for more than 25 years. He has performed thousands of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs and runs live operating courses for this procedure several times a year. He has also developed a procedure to treat groin pain in sportsmen and sportswomen known as the Lloyd Release Procedure. He regularly speaks at international meetings presenting papers on groin pain and the Lloyd Release Procedure.
