Professor Azfar Zaman

Professor of Cardiology and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Freeman Hospital and Newcastle University, UK. Following graduation atLeedsUniversityMedicalSchool, I completed postgraduate training in cardiology at regional centres in Leeds,London,Cardiff andNew York. I secured a Fulbright Scholarship and British Heart Foundation International Fellowship for vascular biology research at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. I am the Head of Coronary Intervention and Director of the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories in a tertiary cardiac centre performing high volume PCI and TAVR procedures. I have held the post of Specialty Group lead for Cardiovascular Research in the region with an interest in clinical research and have over 100 peer reviewed publications. I have a particular interest in thrombosis in diabetes and coronary artery disease and lead one of the largest cardiovascular clinical trial centres in the UK.
