Mr Cooke graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster medical School in 1995. He has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon operating in the North East of England for the last 16 years, having moved up to the North East in 1997. He spent six months on a fellowship in Edinburgh Lower Limb Reconstruction Unit working with the leading surgeons in the country and now has extensive experience in lower limb reconstruction. Mr Cooke's NHS work takes place at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust. Private clinics are held several times a week at Nuffield Tees and also Nuffield York.

Special clinical interests
Mr Cooke specialises in primary hip and knee replacements as well as complex hip and knee revisions. He also has a specialist interest in metal on metal hip revisions, having performed many revisions and published in this field. Mr Cooke also performs knee arthroscopies for meniscal tears and osteochondral defects, as well as carrying out joint injections for pain relief to hips and knees, often within a clinic setting at the same time as the initial consultation. Mr Cooke has undertaken extensive research in Birmingham hip resurfacing, measuring the bone density around the prosthesis. This has been presented at regional and national level and published in leading orthopaedic journals. He has also appeared on C4 documentary 'Dispatches', which reported on metal-on-metal (ASR) findings.
