Mr Nagammapudur Balaji

Mr Balaji is a Consultant Surgeon specialising in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery at University Hospitals of North Midlands in Stoke on Trent . He has a keen interest in benign oesophageal surgery, bariatric surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. After gaining his medical degree, Mr Balaji gained additional skills and expertise in India and the UK, and spent time in the USA as a Research Fellow in the Department of Foregut Surgery at the University of Southern California. He subsequently held a range of Specialist Registrar positions before becoming a Consultant in Upper GI surgery in 2008. Mr Balaji is committed to continuing his professional development and frequently attends courses and conferences which help to enhance his skills and keep him up to date with the latest advances in his specialist fields. This allows him to gain knowledge of the latest surgical techniques, and as a result he has acquired advanced skills in a range of procedures to benefit his patients. Mr Balaji is a member of several organisations related to his surgical specialities, including The British Obesity and Metabolic Society. He has contributed to a number of publications, writing book chapters and research papers relating to upper GI conditions and weight loss surgery. In addition, Mr Balaji has given lectures to his peers and students on subjects relating to his areas of medical expertise, and presented at conferences and meetings in the UK, the USA and Europe.
