Ms Seema Anand

Seema Anand is a highly accomplished Consultant Ophthalmologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where she serves as the Lead Clinician for Ophthalmology and the Lead for Cornea and Refractive Surgery. She did her primary ophthalmology training in London and the West Midlands before advancing to higher surgical training in West Yorkshire. She further honed her expertise with advanced subspecialty training in cornea and refractive surgery at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, Australia, and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in 2009 at South Tees NHS Trust, Ms Anand transitioned to her current role at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds, in 2015. Her NHS practice focuses on managing complex external eye diseases, corneal disorders, and refractive surgery. In her private practice, she specializes in laser and lens-based refractive surgeries. Her areas of special interest include keratoconus and complex corneal transplantation. Ms Anand holds the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Certification in Laser and Lens-Based Refractive Surgery and a postgraduate certification in Cataract and Refractive Surgery from Ulster University. She contributes significantly to the profession as an examiner and sub-committee member for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Laser Refractive Surgery Certification and serves on the council of the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Passionate about education and mentorship, Ms. Anand is actively involved in teaching medical students and surgical trainees. She has previously served as the College Tutor and Governance Lead for Ophthalmology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and recently took on the role of Lead for the Ophthalmology Clinical Network within the West Yorkshire Acute Trusts Association. Ms. Anand has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented in national and international meetings as an invited speaker.
