GMC reg: 7072578Mr Simon Morton is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He graduated with Honours from the University of Glasgow Medical School. He undertook core surgical training in Urology and General Surgery in the West of Scotland before moving to England to complete his specialist training in Urology. Mr Morton is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and a Fellow of the European Board of Urology. His NHS practice incorporates general urology along with his subspecialty interests of functional and reconstructive urology and benign prostatic enlargement. To help men with benign prostatic enlargement, Mr Morton introduced and leads the clinical service for Rezum and HoLEP in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Mr Morton has also introduced Optilume into his NHS practice, a new minimally invasive procedure for men with urethral stricture. His reconstructive urology practice covers a wide range of services and includes treating patients with lower urinary tract symptoms, urinary incontinence, urethral stricture, overactive bladder, female urology, bladder pain syndrome, post cystectomy reconstruction and urological reconstruction to the regional sarcoma/pelvic exenteration service. Mr Morton has previously carried out extensive research into inflammation and cancer pathways at the world-renowned MRC laboratories at the University of Dundee, being awarded a PhD. He has a keen interest in training and is the Clinical Lead for Urology trainees at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and is an Educational and Clinical Supervisor to Urology trainees on the West of Scotland rotation. Mr Morton also teaches regularly on courses at the Royal College.
