GMC reg: 2996424I qualified in 1985 from Guy’s Hospital, London University and worked in Birmingham, Sheffield and Leeds before taking up a consultant post in York in 1996, specialising in general, paediatric ophthalmology and adult motility. I have audited results on various forms of strabismus surgery such as consecutive exotropia and adult esotropia (often presenting as double vision worse at distance) I am practising the newer techniques of muscle repositioning, along with traditional strengthening and weakening eye muscle procedures. I have used Botulinum Toxin treatments for 28 years, and augment with Bupivicaine where this might be helpful. I have published 58 peer review papers, given 153 oral presentations at scientific meetings, and lectures, in York, nationally and internationally. I was the Chair of the Assessment Committee, Academy of Medical Royal Colleges 2020-2023, Chair of the examinations committee at the Royal College of Ophthalmology 2016 to 2020 and head examiner for FRCOphth Part 2, Refraction certificate. Research interests include refraction accuracy, and prescribing in children Adult strabismus in particular muscle positioning in adult esotropia Reading and vision, again mainly in children Childhood intermittent exotropia and why do children squint? I am also interested in funding of various models of healthcare.
