GMC reg: 1550269Mr Shah qualified in 1972 from Leeds University Medical School and obtained FRCS in 1976. After training in Leeds, Nottingham, Cardiff, Newport, Norwich and London Mr Shah he was awarded the Higher Surgical Training Certificate in Urology in 1983. He became a Consultant Urologist in 1984 at St Peter’s Hospitals in London and Senior Lecturer at University College London. He was appointed to the post of Urologist to the Spinal Cord Injuries centre at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 1985. St Peter’s Hospital moved to the Middlesex Hospital in 1992 and then to UCLH in 2005 and the service has more recently moved to Westmoreland Street to a dedicated Urology Hospital. Mr Shah holds an Honorary Associate Professor position at UCL. His special interests continue in Urology and are in female and male incontinence, neuro-urology (including spinal cord injury, cauda equina syndrome), erectile dysfunction and complex reconstructive surgery of the urinary tract. He also has an interest in prostatitis. He has a comprehensive knowledge of the outcome of spinal and pelvic trauma on the urinary tract. He has presented widely at national and international urological conferences and has published numerous papers, chapters and books on urological subjects. PUBLICATIONS Chapters 42 Books 12 Publications 188 He is Clinical Adviser and Trustee of the FOPS (Friends of Prostate Sufferers – A local Charity that helps men with prostate cancer. He chairs a monthly encounter group for prostate cancer sufferers who join from around the UK.
