Mr Phil Harries

I am a Consultant ENT surgeon and sub-specialist Rhinologist at Southampton University Hospitals having been appointed in July 2000. I was previously a trainee on the South Coast ENT registrar rotation. Throughout 1997 I was clinical ENT fellow in Cape Town, South Africa and I have spent further periods of training as rhinology fellow in various ENT departments throughout Europe and the USA. I won the Gold Medal for the Part III FRCS (ORL-HNS) Examination. I work as part of a sub-specialised private ENT Group and have developed the subspecialty of Rhinology locally through the extended role of minimally invasive endoscopic techniques and have set up a research base through close association with other university departments. Our Research group has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and presented at national and international meetings winning a number of best presentation prizes. I perform nasal plastic surgery utilising both closed and open (external) rhinoplasty techniques and I have a major interest in chronic facial pain. I undertake advanced FESS procedures and perform lacrimal surgery via the nose. I also undertake all forms of consultations for Adult and Paediatric ENT problems. I am Consultant Rhinologist to the South of England Cystic Fibrosis Department.
