GMC reg: 3480465Mr Axon has been a consultant in Cambridge since 2001. He is past President of the British Skull Base Society (BSBS) and has served on the Council of the British Society of Otology (BSO) and the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). He currently Chairs the National Vestibular Schwannoma Audit that reviews the care of all patients with vestibular schwannoma across the UK. He works closely with NHS England in delivering skull bases services across the UK. Mr Axon's research interests centre on clinical outcome and translational sciences. He is currently investigating the link between intracranial venous outflow and raised intracranial pressure, its investigation and best management strategies. He has published many peer review papers and book chapters as well as being invited to deliver numerous lectures across the World each year.

Mr Axon is a consultant otologist, hearing implant and skull base surgeon based at Cambridge University Hospitals. He currently leads the East of England Hearing Implant Programme which in 2018/19 implanted over 200 cochlear implants. He is a National lead for the UK Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) service taking responsibility for the East of England and Midlands. He is a core member of the East of England Skull Base Services which is one of the largest tertiary referral centres in Europe. Mr Axon manages complex middle ear disease and accepts referrals from around Europe. He has a large practice managing childhood chronic middle ear disease. He works closely with the Department of Neurosurgery at Addenbrooke's Hospital managing refractory idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH); pulsatile tinnitus; lethargy; headaches and Eagle syndrome. He now accepts patients from around the UK and Europe with these conditions.
