Mr Omar Mulla

I have been a consultant ENT Surgeon since May 2020. My NHS practice includes a specialist voice clinic where I receive referrals from all across Yorkshire and beyond. I am a core member of the thyroid and Head and Neck oncology multi disciplinary teams. Having trained fairly recently I am proficient in all aspects of ENT. I undertake all aspects of general ENT but have a specific interest in voice, thyroid, parathyroid, airway and head and neck surgery in general. Whilst I have specialist clinics I also have general ENT clinics and perform all aspects of ENT surgery including tonsillectomy, snoring surgery and sinus surgery to name a few. Throughout my extensive training, within Yorkshire, and my consultant career I have carried out over 3,000 procedures ranging from simple ENT procedures such as grommets to tonsils more complex procedures such as thyroid surgery. With my specialist voice practice I have performed many voice augmentation and Botox injections under both local and general anaesthesia. With my specialist interest in voice box (larynx) disorders, I receive many referrals from my colleagues for minimally invasive laryngeal surgery. I am the clinical tutor for junior and middle grade ENT doctors. Looking after their educational requirements keeps my knowledge and skills up to date. In addition to my clinical work I supervise an undergraduate bachelor of science student for her degree and thesis. I actively participate in research and currently I am the site lead for four different ENT research projects. I am the course founder and organiser of two courses; Doncaster FRCS viva course (Course for senior ENT trainees preparing for their final exam) and The Hybrid ENT Course (Course for junior ENT and maxillofacial trainees). As course organiser my knowledge is constantly kept up to date and allows me to regularly meet other consultants who help with the courses and bounce ideas back and forth with them.

I am proficient and enjoy all aspects of ENT but my subspecialist interest lies in head and neck cancer, voice, thyroid and swallowing problems. This is shown by the fact that I chair head and neck cancer meeting for the entirety of South Yorkshire. I am also the only thyroid surgeon in  my NHS trust. Within NHS practice I am one of only a handful of true voice surgeons and have a dedicated voice clinic where I treat professional voice users. For this particular clinic I get referrals from all across Yorkshire and even further afield.
