This information is provided by Mr Mark Brown.
GMC reg: 3121087I studied medicine at university in Cambridge, where I also did three years' research leading to the award of a PhD. My basic surgical training was in Birmingham and East Anglia; my specialist orthopaedic training was in West London, with spine fellowships in Adelaide and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, London. From 1997 to 2019 I was a full-time NHS consultant spine surgeon at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (and its several previous names); I have taken partial retirement including retirement from my NHS spine post; I continue in private practice to offer outpatient diagnosis and management of spinal problems in particular back pain and sciatica, and neck and arm pain. Outside work my main interest is music, and (now that Covid regulations have been lifted) I sing in several choirs.
Trauma and orthopaedic surgery - Spine
For many years I undertook most spine surgical procedures in the context of a busy NHS spine practice. I have taken partial retirement and no longer operate. I specialise in the outpatient diagnosis and management of spinal disorders and in the treatment of painful conditions by injection. I continue to have close working relationships with colleagues who can always take on the small number of patients who need, or wish to consider, surgery.
