Mr Jeet Rao - Facial Surgeon

I am a Consultant Maxillofacial and Cosmetic Facial Plastic Surgeon. Born in Merseyside, brought up in North Wales and now living in the North West of England, I enjoy time with my family and friends. I enjoy travelling, music, learning the piano and a keen environmentalist on sustainable living. I like to indulge myself in skiing, motoring and good food and offset these by being ‘carbon positive’ where I can. I am a GMC registered specialist and NHS Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the UK. My NHS sub-speciality interests include management of skin cancer, aesthetic facial plastic surgery, facial deformity and post-trauma surgery and management temporomandibular joint disease. I also undertake most routine Oral and Maxillofacial procedures. Training to become a Maxillofacial Surgeon requires dual qualification in dentistry and medicine and Fellowship training from the Royal College of Surgeons. This has meant I have over 20 years of training and experience, which is now exclusively on the head and neck. I have undertaken an Advanced Interface Fellowship in Cosmetic Reconstructive Surgery in the North West of England, UK. Training under a number of cosmetic reconstructive surgeons gaining experience in aesthetic facial plastic surgery, skin cancer and reconstructive techniques. I am a Member of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons. I am working towards the voluntary Cosmetic Surgery Certification of the Royal College of Surgeons as I believe in safe quality care for patients. I have completed a PGDip in Clinical Education, am appointed as a Training Programme Director at Health Education England, and enjoy training the next generation of surgeons. I am an Honorary Lecturer at Lancaster University Medical School, and OSCE examiner for UCLAN Medical School. I undertake research and audit projects in my clinical interests. I am a reviewer for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. My clinical governance interests are in clinical effectiveness, clinical and patient reported outcomes.
