Mr Marynissen completed his Orthopaedic training in Antwerp University in Belgium. He developed his sub-specialist interest in shoulder and knee pathology by attending further training fellowships in South Africa and Jackson Mississippi, USA. He was appointed as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals from May 1999. His NHS practice is within ELHT ( Burnley, Blackburn and Rossendale hospital sites ) He holds private practice privileges at Gisburn Park Hospital, The Beardwood Hospital and Fullwood Hall Hospital. Mr Marynissen has co-developed the SKI (Soft tissue Knee Injury) group. He has been Chair of the Upper Limb group within ELHT. He has published in several peer reviewed journals and his work has been presented on international orthopaedic meetings. Mr Marynissen focusses on knee and shoulder pathology with an emphasis on joint preserving, minimally invasive surgery.
