Gurjeet did his ophthalmology training in London, spending five years at both Moorfields and Western Eye hospitals. A University College London Ophthalmology MSc lecturer, he has authored the influential textbook ‘Ophthalmology at a Glance’ and set exams for the International Council of Ophthalmology. A winner of five postgraduate prizes, he has been responsible for various global presentations, peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters.
Gurjeet has a strong teaching pedigree, providing regular teaching sessions at the Oxford Association for the Blind (OAB), participating in the regional teaching of Oxford Deanery trainees and running weekly departmental glaucoma/cataract sessions. His efforts were recognised by being awarded trainer of the month twice in his first year at the Oxford University Hospital Trusts (2018). He is an invited speaker both Nationally and Internationally at numerous workshops and conferences. He is a principle investigator for an on-going trial at the OUHT looking at different modalities of drug delivery for glaucoma patients and micro-Stent implants to patients with open angle glaucoma. He is passionate about volunteer work within the community of Oxford, most recently raising £1500 for the OAB by undertaking the National three peaks challenge.

Gurjeet is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Oxford University Hospital, with specialist interest in glaucoma, trauma and complex cataract surgery.
He has been the glaucoma department lead at Oxford University Hospital since early 2018, formulating the minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) service provided by the Trust. With Gurjeet's guidance, Oxford is now one of only twenty centres in the UK providing endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation (ECP). He undertook dedicated subspecialty fellowships in Glaucoma, Trauma and small incision cataract surgery (both Nationally and Internationally). He provides full comprehensive medical and surgical management of glaucoma.
He is a high output surgeon, responsible for 482 intra-ocular surgeries (including 401 cataract surgeries) in 2018. His posterior capsular rupture rate is far lower than national average (0.39% versus 2%).
